Upon contracting with Husker Battery Service to dispose of the batteries, a certificate receipt will be issued containing the following information: 

Ø    Contractor name and address

Ø    Battery type and quantity disposed

Ø    Date of removal

Ø    Date of disposal

Ø    Location and number of the EPA certified recycling facility

 HBSC will provide transportation for collection by drivers with CDL and hazmat endorsements.  All vehicles are registered with the Department of Transportation and annually inspected.  We are able to provide service for large lead acid battery removal such as Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS Computer Backups) and motive power (forklift)

 HSBC only ships the batteries to EPA Certified smelters.  Once the batteries reach the smelters the recycling process begins.  The spent batteries are broken apart, and the lead, plastics and acids are separated. Each part of the battery is reduced and reused and the acids are either neutralized and discharged or converted to sodium sulfate to be used in substances such as detergents and textiles.  Battery recycling aims to reduce the number of batteries being disposed as municipal solid waste.  It is widely promoted by environmentalists concerned about contamination, particularly of land and water by the addition of heavy metals and other toxic chemicals from batteries.
